Starting orthodontic treatment is a big decision, and it's one we want you to feel confident in. Here’s what to expect at the start of your treatment journey with Ipswich Orthodontics.

Before your visit

After you’ve signed up for your first appointment with us, we will send you medical history and privacy consent forms to fill out prior to your visit. If you forget to bring the completed forms with you, please arrive five minutes early so you can complete them at our practice.

Your orthodontic consultation

You will be given a warm welcome by our staff when you visit our central Ipswich practice. After you’re all checked in, our Treatment Coordinator will undertake an assessment of your teeth and jaws, and discuss any concerns you might have about your smile or your treatment. You'll then be introduced to Dr Hamilton-Ritchie who will formulate a tailored treatment plan.

In order to tailor your treatment plan to your exact needs, we may need to obtain diagnostic records such as photos, a 3D scan, or a referral for x-rays (which can be bulk billed to Medicare). This standard consultation usually lasts 45 minutes.

Planning your orthodontic treatment

During your initial consultation, we will also undertake a treatment planning session, where we will discuss the findings of your diagnostic records, and finalise your custom treatment programme.

You will have time to discuss all the specifics of your treatment, including the type of appliance, duration of treatment, retention, appointment scheduling, costs, and payment plans. If you are excited to proceed, we can get you booked in to start treatment!
